The Poultry Houses:
Seven Poultry Houses totalling 11,676 sq m (125,680 sq ft). All houses are timber framed Harlow Poultry Sheds built on brick and concrete dwarf walls with timber cladding, corrugated metal roof and side welfare windows. The boarded walls and ceilings are insulated with fibre glass and houses 6 and 7 have insulated floors. The poultry house roofs have no gutters and drainage is by way of French drains. The control room for each house has step over security with computer controlled systems. There is an additional storage room integrated into house 4.
Houses 1 to 4, constructed in 1995, were former turkey buildings but they were refurbished by Harlow Buildings and converted to broiler production in 2006. Ventilation is via eight fans at the ridge (nine in houses 6 & 7) and gable end ventilation along and blackout shutters over the welfare windows.
