Amenities in the village include a primary school, a bar and restaurant, and a garage-come-shop. The catchment area for secondary school is Westhill Academy in Westhill, which is approximately 6 miles from Dunecht whilst there are several independent schools in Aberdeen, such as Albyn, St Margaret’s School for Girls and Robert Gordon’s College. Westhill is a well-connected, family friendly town with a wide range of amenities, from shopping and dining to leisure and education. Striking a good balance between urban and rural living, making it an attractive location for both professionals and families, especially with its close proximity to Aberdeen.

The surrounding Aberdeenshire countryside offers some wonderful opportunities for outdoor activities such as hiking, cycling, fishing and nature walks. Kirkhill Forest and The Deeside Way are popular spots in the local area. The nearby Loch of Skene is a serene freshwater loch which is partially man-made, with a dam at its southern outflow forming a reservoir. The loch is designated as a Special Protection Area, a Site of Specific Scientific Interest and a Ramsar site for wildlife conservation purposes. Visitors are encouraged to enjoy the area's walking trails and birdwatching opportunities while respecting its protected status.

DESCRIPTION

Upper Affloch Farmhouse is a delightful traditional farmhouse built of stone under a slate roof and is accessed via a shared private road through the surrounding countryside. The accommodation is spacious, laid out over two levels and now requires a degree of refurbishment. The farmhouse is accessed through the front door into a welcoming entrance hall, from here access can be taken to the living room, dining room/downstairs bedroom and family bathroom. To the rear of the property is the larder and spacious kitchen which further benefits from a rear hall with access directly to the side of the farmhouse. The first floor is accessed from the main set of stairs located in the hallway. Upon reaching the first floor there are two spacious bedrooms and one smaller box room. Usefully and completing the internal accommodation there is a further bedroom, the former maids room, which is accessed via a separate set of stairs from the kitchen.

In total Upper Affloch Farmhouse sits in approximately 0.42 acres with lawned gardens to both the front and rear which afford picturesque views over the surrounding countryside. To the front of the Farmhouse there is an area of hardstanding providing ample parking. Further to this there is a most useful stone outbuilding/bothy under a corrugated roof.
