26 years’ experience in forestry and a background in planning provides Denis with a deep understanding of this asset.
Denis thrives on the variety of his role in advising clients on their long-term forestry strategy as well as practical day-to-day management and woodland creation. Witnessing established woodlands thrive (which he was involved in creating more than two decades ago) is testament to his expertise.
Bidwells is an industry leader in forestry sales and valuations and also delivering windfarms within plantations - Denis has been an integral part of that success. His experience and insight of local authority planning is invaluable when guiding clients through the wind energy development process.
Denis has been involved with large scale windfarm forestry plans involving eight different ownerships over 2,000 hectares which demanded complex design and technical submissions encompassing EIARs. This major project achieved planning consent without any objections from consultees – a great result.
Although sometimes challenging, Denis enjoys the strategic aspect of woodland creation and has successfully developed woodlands in testing conditions in terms of regulation, planning, and site conditions. Currently he is delivering a complex landscape-scale native woodland restoration project for a private client.
