A BNG scheme located at Abbotts Hall Farm which will provide biodiversity units within Colchester Borough Council and immediately adjacent to the Maldon District Council region.
The scheme will be delivered and managed by Essex Wildlife Trust, contributing to their ambitions to protect wildlife and inspire the love of nature.
Developers can secure biodiversity units for the following habitat types:
- Grassland habitats of medium to very high distinctiveness
- Wetland habitats of high distinctiveness
- Lake habitats of high distinctiveness
- Hedgerow habitats of high distinctiveness
- Woodland habitats of medium distinctiveness
- Heathland and shrub habitats of medium distinctiveness
Location
The 272 ha site is located approx. 4 miles east of Tiptree and sits in the Colchester Council Local Planning Authority area and Greater Thames Estuary and Northern Thames Basin National Character Areas. Abbotts Hall has a 3.5 km frontage on the Salcott Creek and a branch of the main environmentally designated Blackwater Estuary.
