      The scheme will be delivered and managed by Essex Wildlife Trust, contributing to their ambitions to protect wildlife and inspire the love of nature.

      Developers can secure biodiversity units for the following habitat types:

      • neutral grassland
      • wildflower margins
      • traditional orchard
      • woodland
      • reedbed
      • coastal saltmarsh
      • lakes and ponds
      • ditches
      • scrub
      • hedgerows

      Location

      The site is located approx. 4 miles east of Tiptree and sits in the Colchester Council Local Planning Authority area and Greater Thames Estuary and Northern Thames Basin National Character Areas. Abbotts Hall has a 3.5 km frontage on the Salcott Creek and a branch of the main environmentally designated Blackwater Estuary. This site is of high strategic significance for ecological restoration.
